THE HARGIS
The trout hat is named "Hargis" after the founder's trusted friend Jason Hargis. Jason was a tremendous friend, fishing buddy, and partner to the Burnt Co team. He played a big part in the design of the trout hat, and he helped Burnt Co launch in 2019. Sadly, Jason lost his battle with cancer that same year. In memory of Jason, we have kept the original design of the hat just the way he wore it, which is why this patch is smaller than the other fish.
In honor of Jason, for every Hargis hat sold, we will donate $5 to True North Treks, a non-profit dedicated to empowering young adults and their caregivers affected by cancer to connect to the healing spaces of nature through Adventure Therapy, offering free backpacking, canoeing trips, and more.
